SNAKES ON AN ACTRESS
AGAM DARSHI GETS UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH SOME SLITHERY CAST MEMBERS
By Richard Livsey
NEW YORK CITY - Snakes On A Plane has
landed, and the much anticipated movie of
Internet fame is a bona fide hit.

This flick puts the
fun back into the movie
going experience. At the AMC Theatres
Empire 25 in Times Square, the crowd
was pumped. They cheered everything
from the opening credits, to the snakes,
the bites, and especially all those
catchy-ass lines of dialogue: "That's good
news, snakes on crack."

I had the opportunity to interview one of the
cast. Her name is
Agam Darshi, and with
her talent and natural beauty, her career is
loaded, locked and ready to soar.

Richard Livsey: Many people are scared of snakes, what are your thoughts on these slithery creatures?

Agam Darshi: I've never had any problems with snakes. I've always found them pretty fascinating. I think if I had to work
with spiders though, that would be entirely different.

AD: There were about 400 snakes on hand. And I worked with CGI, and real snakes. The CGI snake was of course
created after they got the shots. But in the final scene, they placed a large yellow snake, about the width of my arm, and
about 4 feet long, on the seat in front of me. They did the shot three times, and each time the snake slithered on to my
lap and behind my back. I don't have any problems looking at snakes, but it's different when it's slithering on you!
I was supposed to act dead, but my heart was pounding and I never felt more alive!

RL: Have you ever come across a snake in the woods?

AD: When I was in Australia I was walking along the beach with some friends. One of them almost stepped on this black
snake. It was in the middle of eating a mouse.

RL: What would be you’re worst-case animal encounter? Venomous Snake? Grizzly Bear? Mountain Lion? Or Shark?

AD: I think with bears, there are ways of protecting yourself. Like you can outrun them if they're far enough away, or
spray them, or play dead. The chances of me coming face to face with a shark are slim. But being from Canada, and
going camping or hiking, I would say that
mountain lions scare me the most. They're predators, and they literally spy
on their victims, until they're ready to pounce. They're beautiful animals, but they're vicious, and fast, and even if you
play dead they'll eat you.

RL: Some people are not going to go see this movie because they don’t get it. If you could speak to these people what
would you say?

AD: Don't take it so seriously. It's a fun summer movie. It's not meant for critics. It's meant to go to in the dead of summer
when you just want to go on a wild ride, and not think too much about it. And hey --Samuel is in it!

RL: Speaking of, ever since Jungle Fever, and especially after Pulp Fiction burst onto the scene, Samuel L. Jackson
has become a major player in Hollywood. What are your thoughts on the star of
Snakes On A Plane?

AD: I think he's great. When I first saw Pulp Fiction I was pretty young and I didn't get it. I saw it again a few years back
and it blew me away. I then understood why people love him. He's so intense and a great actor. Someday I will work with
him again, and in a much larger role.

RL: There's a cool shot of you in the previews. How stoked were you to learn that you were featured in the movie’s
trailer?

AD: I was thrilled! My mom phoned me, while watching Access Hollywood, and told me. It's been playing on the TV all
the time.

RL: Since you’re based in Vancouver B.C., what’s the best part about being a Canadian Actress?

AD: Vancouver has a great film scene. Its a great place to build your resume. I've worked on some awesome shows like,
Supernatural, Dead Zone, Tru-Calling and Masters of Horror. There is also a lot of emphasis in  Canada on
developing your craft as an actor, and being really good at what you do.

RL: What’s the hardest part?

AD: The hardest part is the lack of funding. If you get cast in a Canadian series, you're not getting as much media
credit, and as much money as you would if you lived in the States. The budgets are so small here, and even if there is a
fan base for a show, it doesn't mean it'll be picked up. So many times, you'll find leads from Canadian series still
auditioning for commercials because they're not making a whole lot of money.

RL: If you had to make a choice, would it be a comedy or drama? Not necessarily to work in, but to watch and enjoy?

AD: I really love drama. I love human struggle. I think struggle makes the good stuff in life so much better. I love
characters that are flawed, or have to overcome challenges that they are faced with. I really enjoy comedy as well. One
of the things I want to do before I die, is stand-up.
